Upgrade your HP Laptop / PC to TPM 2.0

According to Microsoft the Windows 11 OS required a TPM version 2.0 in order to get in running. The TPM 2.0 is normally installed in many newer devices (not older then 3-4 years). However in some older devices a TPM 1.2 might be installed which can be upgraded to TPM 2.0

However not every TPM Chip can be upgraded from 1.2 to 2.0. There are only a handful TPM Chips on the market which can be updated.

But, if you have a:

Infineon SLB9660 (which one after updated should change the name to SLB9665) [SLB 9660TT1.2, SLB 9660VQ1.2, SLB 9660XQ1.2, SLB 9660XT1.2]

 You can download an update from the HP Website here and update the TPM 1.2 to 2.0.

The following TPM Chips couldn´t be updated from TPM 1.2 to 2.0:

Troubleshooting steps If the update isn´t working:

1.) Make sure that TPM is enabled in the BIOS

2.) Try to perform a BIOS reset (reset to factory defaults)

3.) Try to disable the TPM auto-provisioning temporarly (we´ll turn it back on later):

3a.) Open Powershell as Admin and run:

Disable-TpmAutoProvisioning

3b.) Reboot the PC and go into the BIOS. Navigate to “Security -> TPM 1.2/2.0 Security”. If TPM is disabled there, enable it. If not click on the clear checkbox and select yes to clear the TPM settings. Then boot into windows.

3c.) Re-Run the TPM 2.0 Firmware Update Utility and let your PC reboot

3d.) Once your PC is back re-enable the TPM Auto Privisioning. Open a Powershell as Admin and run:

Enable-TpmAutoProvisioning

3e.) After that reboot your PC again

3f.) Open tpm.msc and make sure that TPM is active an provisioned
