Other:

The HP EliteBook 8570p supports UEFI. To change from the Bios (Legacy) to UEFI perform the following steps:

1.) Change your Windows 10 OS as explained here

2.) At the HP startup screen, hit “ESC” for the “Startup Menu”, “F10” for “BIOS Setup”

3.) in “System Configuration” tab, “Boot Options”, change “Boot Mode” from “Legacy” to “UEFI Hybrid (With CSM)” for Windows 7 64 bit or even better to “Native UEFI (without CSM)” which is used for Windows 8 64 bit and higher.

Ā

How to enter the Bios:

Via F10

Ā

Reset Bios Password:

You can reset the BIOS Password with using a SMC.BIN file you you can only get from the HP support (and not from me)! Its generated by HP using your unique UUID. Once you have the file you need to put that on a 2GB FAT32 formatted USB stick. Put that into your USB2 port, press the windows key and arrow up and arrow down at the same time and start the notebook. Once you see the HP logo you need to press F10. After some moment you will get a “SMC Command Status ā€“ SMC command handled successfully.” and then can choose “Reset BIOS Security settings”. After that you need to save the change via F10.
