You wish to install SP3 for MS Office 2007 but the installer stops working and shows the error “The installation of this package has failed”. In the MS Update overviews you can see the following error message “0x6B6”. How can you solve that issue?
The issue happen because of the reason that you installed MS Office from a installation folder which is now no longer in place (for example a network drive which isn´t any longer mapped, or a local installation folder which was removed after the installation finished). The only way to solve the issue is to uninstall MS Office 2007 and reinstall it completely (after a reboot). Directly after that apply the MS Office 2007 SP3.
